Poori Recipe

Recipe

  1. Mix whole wheat flour, sugar, salt and sooji in a bowl.
  2. Add little water and knead to make a tight dough.
  3. The consistency of the dough is very important in making good puffed up poories.
  4. It should be tighter than the regular roti dough.
  5. Cover the dough with a moist cloth and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  6. Knead again for a minute and then divide the dough into small lemon sized balls.
  7. Roll each ball into a 4 inch disc.
  8. Do not roll the poori too thin.
  9. Heat oil in pan.
  10. To check if the oil is hot enough, drop a small ball of dough in the oil.
  11. If it rises immediately, it means the oil is hot enough.
  12. Slip a poori in the hot oil.
  13. Press gently and fry till poori puffs up.
  14. Turn and fry from another side till golden brown.
  15. Drain the poori on a plate lined with kitchen towel.
  16. Make all the poories in the same manner.
  17. Serve hot
